Hello and welcome from the new CTIS Directors Dr Louise Pears and Dr Madeleine Le Bourdon! We are excited to relaunch the Centres blog space, showcasing pedagogical innovation, research and scholarship within The School of Politics and International Studies (POLIS). The CTIS Blog will feature entries from staff and students from within the School providing insights into the centres four themes research themes, Content and Design; Practice and Purpose; Approaches and Environment; and Assessment and Evaluation.

But who are CTIS and what do we do?

CTIS is made up of a group of active researchers in POLIS, working independently, and collaboratively on pedagogical scholarship. From inclusive teaching practices to the use of memes for learning, our members work provide cutting-edge insight into pedagogy of Global Challenges. To find out about previous, current and ongoing pedagogical interest within the Centre do check out our ‘Peoples’ page or feel free to get in touch with Louise/Madeleine.

In the coming year academic year of 2022/2023, CTIS will be hosting a number of events which you can check out on our Events page. The first event held in Semester One was a POLIS workshop on ‘Decolonising Pedagogy’, critically reflecting on how we understand and implement decolonising in out teaching. We intend to carry on this conversation with colleagues in our school and Faculty. Each event will be reflected on in a featured Blog entry, providing snapshot of the ongoing discussion from the centre.

Importantly though, we want to hear from you! If you are a staff, student or stakeholder who would like to contribute to this blog or CTIS activities please do contact us here.

In the meantime, you can follow us on Twitter where we will be sharing and re-sharing all things pedagogy and global challenges.
